Historical Background
The Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapeeth is a unit of the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama, Lumdung which has its Headquarter at Belur Math, Howrah, West Bengal.
In the end of June, 2017 the NangheeNatungMowa Tacha Welfare Society of Lumdung village, Arunachal Pradesh donated a piece of land to Ramakrishna Mission with an expectation that a Residential Secondary School should start at this place, so as to fulfil a long standing demand of the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
On 30th March, 2018 there was a meeting at Lumdung Govt Secondary School to discuss about the commencement of a Primary School for the time being. The Deputy Commissioner and DDSE of East Kameng were kind enough to provide some space to start up a Primary School on temporary basis to be run by the Ramakrishna Mission. Shri Mama Natung, Sri ShishuNatung, Dr. Tanie Natung, Er Suren Natung and others along with the District Administration had agreed wholeheartedly to support the noble project if taken up by the Mission. It was decided that Ramakrishna Mission ShishuVidyamandir, Lumdung, a primary school for the students of Grade I and Grade II would start immediately in the month of September 2018. Now the school is running upto Standard VII( in 2023-24) and in the coming sessions it will be graded to the higher classes. The school has at present about 225 students who are mostly local residents. Thus since 2018 the Ramakrishna Mission ShishuVidyamandir was operated in the premises of erstwhile GSS, Lumdung and in 2023 it got shifted to its own campus and renamed as :“Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapeeth, Lumdung”.
